I still think some team late first round takes Dobbins...but you DO bring up a great point, Roo...I've said MANY times, that a good, run-blocking O-line can make even an average back look good, and Mostert is a great example of this...now, on Mostert, he does have 4.34 speed, which is above average, but he DID go undrafted...so, again, build the O line, and good things happen, as we just witnessed with the Niners...

Tomlinson and Co. are scrubs, propped up by the genius of young Shanahan.

LAC best hope starts in my view with Steichen...his mentor Chud produced some prolific offenses.
You would think that Lynn would be an asset since he backed up TD in denver during the shanahan years.

The interior of Mike Person, Ben Garland & Laken Tomlinson is a collection of journeymen; it would be problematic under the guidance of most coaching staffs.
I think its as much Shanahan as anything else. His dad would routinely take average running backs and made them very productive.

CB Levonta Taylor and DL McTelvin Agim could be good late round value.

Yeah, I have trouble finding OT's I like later, too. There's always someone still on the board I like better... usually there are 5 or 6 still there. Dobbins may or may not be there in early round 2. But like someone said before, the RB class is deep. But I like the idea of a banger to compliment Eke and JJ.

My mock reflects the inevitable change at QB. Was hoping PR was coming back...

1st: OT Jedrick Wills. I'm going to protect the next QB, whoever it may be. I'm doing it in the 1st round because I'm also going to get a guy that can play the blind side next year. Okung's contract is up next year and who knows about his health. I'm getting a 1st round OT because there's a good chance he'll be protecting the blind side this year... if Russell goes down again. If you can't protect your QB, you can't win. If you can't run the ball, you can't be balanced on offense. Jedrick Wills has the feet to protect the QB and the strength/mobility to make the run game work.

2nd: QB Jacob Eason. I have no idea if he lasts this long. Most of the mocks I've been doing have him available here. He sits for a year behind Tyrod Taylor to learn the system. Strong arm. Only 1 year of starting experience makes him raw. Brandon Love is also a consideration for me in round 2. Anthony Gordon in the 4th round would be Plan B if Eason/Love aren't available in round 2. A rookie QB certainly frees up cap money.

3rd: CB Cameron Dantzler. Again, hope he's here. A deep CB class let's us snag 2nd round talent. Decent speed. Zone awareness. Good tackler. Love his effort and enthusiasm for the game. Love defensive kids from MS State.

4th: DT Rashard Lawrence. After the two 1st round DT's (Brown and Kinlaw) the talent falls off IMO. Then you have a cluster of DT's that probably last until 4th round. Here's the value IMO. Lawrence is stout in the run game (big need) and kept those LSU linebackers clean (another need). He can provide pressure to the QB occasionally. Part of a rotation. DT might be a position we go after in FA now that we evidently won't be re-signing PR.

5th: RB AJ Dillon. A big back that will compliment Eke and JJ. Has good speed for a 250 lb. RB. 3rd and short will no longer be a problem. Mostly North/South runner but surprisingly gets to the outside well for a big man. Runs people over. A running back by committee would tire defenses out... especially if they had to account for the differing running styles. Deep RB class pushes AJ into 5th round.

6th: WILL WILLie Gay Jr. Pretty good timed speed... very good playing speed. WILLie has very good instincts... which is what helps him play fast. Can tackle, can cover, can blitz. Another player from MS State. Didn't play much this year because of a suspension due to grades scandal... so there is a red flag. He reminds me of Fred Warner from a couple years ago. The grades scandal pushes him down the boards. But someone will get a steal... why not us this time...?

7th: WR Juaun Jennings. 6-3, 210. Does work over the middle and can be a redzone target. Doesn't have the speed most want here... which is why he's available here... along with a deep WR class. People forget that Travis Benjamin has 4.35 speed. Problem is... we can't pass block long enough to run longer routes. With Wills at RT, that won't be a problem. TB has one last year to see what he can do.

              https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/2020-nfl-draft-big-board-rankings-december-solak

              1) OT Andrew Thomas/6, WR CeeDee Lamb/8, DT Derrick Brown/12, OT Tristan Wirfs/13, RB D'Andre Swift/16 * cluster is still fluid, albeit tightening up some (moving higher up the board)

              2) WR Jalen Reagor, OT Prince Tega Wenogho, QB Jalen Hurts, QB Jake Fromm, LEO Curtis Weaver, OG Tyler Biadasz, CB Jeff Gladney, SS Brandon Jones, CB Jaylon Johnson, RB Clyde Edwards Helaire, LEO Julian Okwara * last man listed is prolly my choice here, albeit very important pick w/lotsa talent still on the board.... @QB Fromm should be the pick if that's the direction they/we choose

              3) QB Jacob Eason, LEO Yetur Gross Matus, WR Tee Higgins, NT Leki Fotu * if I'm team Tommy John, it's Higgins all day here if he's still on the board

              4) OC Lloyd Cushenberry, SAM Evan Weaver, RB AJ Dillon, CB Cameron Dantzler, DE Marlon Davidson * Chargers'll prolly wanna go CB here, albeit think Cberry is an AL kinda guy

              5) OC Jake Hanson * will not be surprised if he's a Charger by next season

              6) CB Darnay Holmes, SR Aaron Fuller * if things are unfolding as eye suspect w/Keenan, gotta double dip @wideout if Fuller is still on board

              7) FS Alohi Gilman, CB AJ Green, TE Albert Okwuegbunam, RB JJ Taylor * long fall from the first round, albeit would be more than happy to give Al a soft landing here in Chargerland

              U) CB Nevelle Clark, QB Riley Neal * yes, and yes pls

              R) SS Hamsah Nasirildeen, OG Trey Smith, SAM Paddy Fisher * returning to school

Now that Keuchley has retired, does Carolina want Simmons?
If so, would you offer the 5 for Carolina's 6 and their second round pick this year? would Carolina make that offer?

screw that. Simmons is a once in a generation player (cough) - they must overpay to play.

                          6) I'm hoping Okudah is there at 6. I still prefer him to Simmons. Chargers haven't spent any picks on a CB since Verrett it feels like. Here are some of the WR's the Bolts will see next season: Mike Thomas, Julio Jones, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, AJ Green, Tyler Boyd, and the rest of the AFC West who all swept us. Let's get the best CB in the draft who can anchor the secondary for years to come.

                          37) Going to assume no Rivers, no Brady, and no Bridgewater or other Free Agent. Burrow to Cincy and Tua to the Miami. Hurts to me is the best option left. "Hurts is a perfect Day 2 QB in today's NFL, where he can shine via on extended plays, mobility, play-making ability and comfort off script."

No offensive linemen taken in the first 3 rounds. Instead I'm fine using Free Agency to compliment the draft in this situation. Telesco made good moves adding Okung and Pouncey, he might be able to repeat this offseason.

                          71) Really liked what I saw from Lawrence in the Championship game. He's got an NFL ready build and is a vocal leader in the locker room.

                          102) Hopefully Hunter Henry resigns. But with or without him, I really like Jared Pinkney and what he can bring to the offense. Bolts still need some more talent at TE, and the number 3 TE in the draft would be good value in round 4.

                          133) Denzel Mims "Has truly elite burst and long speed as a former decorated track and field athlete. One of the most explosive athletes in college football." Mims would bring needed speed to the WR group.

                          166) Antonio Gibson is fast and explosive. He looks really good as a returner for special teams. He's RB who's used a lot like a WR. Check out his highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKm9IkvBopI

                          197) Steele looks like a good RT prospect from Texas Tech. Coach Lynn would like that. He might do better as a RG, but he certainly has the height and physicality you want to see in your O-line.
