With so many players at either positions of need, or key positions, it is hard to think we would spend a pick that high on a TE, any TE. Add in we have Henry, and that it is a deep year at the position (at least in terms of athletes).

I would have liked to have seen Howard be a bit more productive too. I get that he was miss used in Alabama. THey didn't really use a TE well, and he is as productive as anyone playing that spot for Saban ever has been. Still, I just get the sense he is not really pushing himself, although what little of the senior bowl I watched did impress me more than his play in Alabama did.

Davis is yet another guy I could warm up to, despite WR not being a position of need. He is good, even though he still has plenty of room for improvement. Despite some issues, a very dominant player.

I would be scared of drafting Mixon just because that video of Mixon goes from him walking into the place to him punching her so fast it makes me wonder what his malfunction is? Great player, but I wouldn't have him on my board.

Yep. As big as Spanos faults are he has been pretty consistent with keeping bad character players away.

Agreed on Mixon. What concerns me about Williams are his routes. His proday it was clear to me how badly he needs to work on that. They were really pretty sloppy. In fact he sort of just reminded me of Malcom Floyd when he came out. I think a good value pick in the 4th would be a guy like Chad Hansen. I think hes a savvy player with a high football iq. Knows how to get open and might have the biggest hands in the draft. He is a very sure handed WR. Receptions machine last year. Im still in the 1st round defense camp but if its an offensive playmaker id target Davis over Ross/Williams.

The fact Lynn even put it out there that Mixon was still on the board is sort of concerning.

            Tier 1
The elite class of the 2017 NFL draft. These players should be starters from Day 1 and project as perennial Pro Bowl players.

A notch below the elite class but still worthy of top-20 picks in most drafts. These picks are expected to be plug-and-play starters.

            2. Jonathan Allen, DT, Alabama (94)

Would rather not reach for these prospects late in the first round, but they're good value picks in the first half of Round 2.

            Tier 5
These players are middle- or late-second-round prospects.

            2017: 14 players | 2016: 18 players

            47. T.J. Watt, OLB, Wisconsin (84)*

            -

            Tier 6
These players are third-round prospects. They could develop into solid starters, but they either have limited upside or come with a higher element of risk than players worth drafting in the first two rounds.

2017 NFL Draft: Joe Mixon Favored for Chargers, Raiders

BookMaker.eu has released odds for Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon's team for Week 1 of the 2017-18 NFL season. Here are the favorites to land him, along with the odds for each.

              Apr 06, 10:18AM PDT

Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon might be the most controversial player in the NFL Draft. He was arrested in 2014 for punching a female student, an incident caught on video.

He was suspended for the entire 2014 season, but found the end zone seven times on the ground in 2015 and another 10 times a year later. He also has nine career receiving scores.

CBS SPORTS: MIXON ABSENT FROM COMBINE

Mixon ran an unofficial 4.43 40-yard dash at Oklahoma's pro day, and now it's a matter of what team he'll end up on, if any.

BookMaker.eu has released odds for Mixon's team for Week 1 of the 2017-18 NFL season. Here are the favorites to land him:

Los Angeles Chargers: +250 (bet $100 to win $250)

The Chargers brought in Mixon for a visit in late March. "We know he can play football," head coach Anthony Lynn said. "He's one of the best backs in the draft." The Chargers lost RB Danny Woodhead to the Ravens, but still have Melvin Gordon. They draft seventh.

Oakland Raiders: +300 (bet $100 to win $300)

The Raiders lost RB Latavius Murray to the Vikings and have been linked to retired RB Marshawn Lynch, who is on Seattle's reserve/retired list. They also have DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard under contract. Raiders owner Mark Davis reportedly has a "zero tolerance" policy for domestic violence. They pick 24th.

Philadelphia Eagles: +550 (bet $100 to win $550)

Eagles owner Jeff Lurie said of players with potential character issues, "We've been an organization that's given players a second chance. However, we've also been an organization that really values character." The Eagles were middle of the road in rushing last season (113 yards per game). They pick 14th.

New York Giants: +850 (bet $100 to win $850)

The Giants just went through domestic violence issues with kicker Josh Brown, which could make Mixon undraftable. Still, the Giants released RB Rashad Jennings and are left with second-year man Paul Perkins. They draft 23rd.

              Field: -250 (bet $250 to win $100)

The field – any other NFL team or Mixon not being on a roster come Week 1 – is actually the favorite. Teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers could certainly use Mixon's skills.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Chargers meeting with WR Ishmael Zamora...I believe this is the 2nd time.

Certainly has the size and speed (6'3 220 4.4).

Hes the Joe Mixon of WRs. Loos like we are interested in possible value despite character concerns. Hes not as talented at WR as Mixon is at RB however.

02/03/17 - WR Ishmael Zamora of Baylor wasn't invited to this month's NFL scouting combine, USA Today reported Friday. Zamora served a three-game suspension during the 2016 season after video emerged showing him beating and kicking a dog. He was charged with a misdemeanor and was fined and served community service. Zamora caught 63 passes for 809 yards and eight touchdowns in 2016 as a third-year sophomore.

01/15/17 - Baylor WR Zamora declares for NFL Draft...Baylor sophomore wide receiver Ishmael Zamora, who was suspended this past season for three games over an animal abuse incident, plans to enter the 2017 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Zamora is eligible for this year's draft since he redshirted in 2014 followed by two seasons on the field. "I made this decision for a lot of reasons and family is the No. 1. I loved Baylor just as much as the next guy but I couldn't stay there forever," Zamora wrote on his Twitter account late Saturday night. Zamora made 63 catches for 809 yards and eight touchdowns in 10 games in 2016. EXOS also announced Zamora was joining its NFL Combine training program. Zamora was suspended for the first three games of the season, drawing national attention after a video surfaced of the wide receiver beating his dog with a belt and kicking the animal. He was charged with a misdemeanor and given a citation and a fine.

Baylor also required that Zamora perform 40 hours of community service "in a manner that will teach him kindness and respect toward animals." Zamora had to undergo counseling and relinquish his dog to an animal-friendly home. He sent the dog to live with relatives in Houston after the incident. "I am sorry that I took out my frustration on my dog and accept the punishment that comes with it," Zamora said in a statement in August. "This incident will never, ever happen again. I truly love my dog, however, I know that my actions showed differently and I know that I made a big mistake. I apologize to my family, teammates, Baylor University and our fans for my actions. "Eventually, I hope that everyone can see who I really am and that I am not a terrible person. This incident does not and will not define me, and I know that I am the one who will have to prove that to others in the days ahead. - The Sports Xchange
