the problem with CFL guys (and college football too), is that there are too many guys who are sloppy with their techniques. Really good athletes can dominate on their athletic ability alone. They can still be sloppy, and then they get to the NFL and get kicked around. But there are guys who can develop their techniques and get better. Cameron Wake, Warren Moon, Jeff Garcia all were able to develop their games in the CFL and then were able to turn it up a notch from when they came out of college. But for as many success stories, there are a few failures out there. We just have to wait and see.
The extra bonus was so that Inman could buy himself out of his CFL contract. I am not sure I would read that much into it. I do think he has a better chance of becoming an NFL WR, now that he has gotten more playing time.
The problem with the NFL is that unlike many other sports (BA, MLB...) there is little way to develop fundamentals in football without actually playing in organized leagues. You can't be the kid who hones his jump shot with your own backyard hoop. or develops their curve or slider by throwing off a mound in the back yard. Players in those sport go into their rookie years just lacking experience, but the fundamentals are pretty much down. NFL football is much worse. The techniques are more complicated, the interaction between players more precise, and the tactics more varied. Even though football is better coached at the top levels compared to lower levels, you still have the shortest development times and the fewest opportunities for players.
It's a real shame that teams cannot find a way to have some sort of minor league. I kinda hope that is what TT is doing with the CFL. But a lot of potentially good NFL players never make it because they signed with teams with more pressing needs and the teams didn't have the time to let 22 year old kids develop.

Johnny Manziel has been climbing the draft boards, but Blake Bortles and Teddy Bridgewater could still go in the top 5 -- especially if the Rams decide the Sam Bradford era is over.
This mock has us trading up to #17 and taking Xavier Su'a-Filo, Guard, UCLA. Holy cow, I can only imagine the size of the aneurysm Den60 would have. He'd go into Sam Kinnison mode and start screaming how guards aren't taken that high, you certainly don't trade up for them, and how it's a reach at best. Whether or not he turned out to be right this time, only time would tell, but it would be a complete repeat of last year. I can't wait!sigpic

It all depends on what we do (or don't do) in Free Agency. If we sit on our hands and go after the 3rd-tier guys, then we're gonna need all the draft choices we can get, IMO.
I am almost universally against trading up. And we did get KA in the 3rd last year.
