A super left side would be able to create lots of room for the running game. Slater is a powerful run blocker.

Alt is top five in overall talent in the 2024 draft. Whether as a bookend or next door. Alt @ #5 with Slater would set us for quality OL play for years. Visualize that. Now what was everybody saying ? Criminy, there will be a very good WR available @ #37.

Vs the Raiders for example, Alt would hold up vs either Maxx Crosby or Malcom Koonce, whoever is lined up on the right side, let's say. Alt has long arms and power to deal with Maxx's elite game. But also, Alt has recovery technique and that same arm length to deal with elite speed from Koonce, in spite of B grade in mobility.

We are going to be looking at Alt or Nabors or Bowers or trade down in round one. That's it.
You still moving Slater to LG? This will never happen unless your plan to just replace him at LT with younger rookie contract? Because moving him to LG guarantees when he’s UDFA in 2026 he’ll be long gone for a top LT contract and LT role on another team and likely unhappy until he leaves.

Maxx will just line up on the weak side. IFFF they draft Alt, both will play OT imo. Is that the biggest problem to solve on our OL, or is it the interior? Or was it just coaching, play designs, play calling and team preparation methods?

It was a thinly veiled message to the Brock Bowers Fan Club.
Maybe we do play modern football.

          It was an idea.
          Guaranteed to get a reaction.
          Trolling ?
          No way man.
This would take a huge concession from Pro Bowl OLT Rashawn.
But we would have very good run blocking on the left side.
That is a detail, RS/JA as ++ run blockers,
that I do not believe most understand.
I do NOT look at drafting Joe Alt @ #5 through a prism.
Is that true for those many, many Charger fans
who strongly favor Brock Bowers @ #5 ?
You do know that many NFL teams
          projected Slater to OG
          and Zion to C,
          right ?
I was not being flippant or foolish, Sir.

I'm waiting to see what ends up happening with the roster moves that are pending to get the team under the cap...once the dust settles on that...then I can start formulating theories about what they might do in the draft, right now? i too much stuff is still in the air, can't really see where their headed in the draft...one thing for sure tho, if Hortiz gets hired, they will get bigger and tougher in the trenches...I like the idea of Bowers, I think he's a special talent, but he doesn't fit the mold for the type of TEs that fit into a run heavy physical offense that they will be building...

He doesn’t? Looks like a blocker to me.

Absolutely, I know your not trolling just giving you a hard time.
I am on the Bowers train or would still like a trade down for Kool Aid... Still thinking he bolsters the secondary.
But going Oline is not the worst choice either if our new GM deems it so. I def think the pick is better spent elsewhere though.

The only guy I want is to draft in round 1 is Bowers. If he is somehow gone,.....after that im good with 10 different scenarios including OL.

I'm good with trading back a few spots and drafting him.

Who could draft Bowers before 5th ?
                    ARI ? NE ?

NE can’t skip the chance to get a QB at 3, so no, unless they plan to be back at 3 next year.
AZ could, but bettors are leaning strong to WR, which they also need

Bowers makes the most sense to me. Stud TE will give Herbert another target and would allow Harbaugh to run the offense he wants to. Plus he can block which will help the run game. To me it's a no brainer.

There was another TE drafted in the first round that nobody talks about that is pretty damn good imo. Evan Engram is a stud.

He had 114 receptions last season and has always been pretty productive. He is 240 lbs so dont know what he is as a blocker as ive never paid attention but he has been quetly a good TE.....first round.

Drafted in 2017 with Kittle. Njoku was also a first rounder that year but he has been up and down. Cleveland hasnt been QB rich.

There were 5 TEs drafted in the 5th round with Kittle that year and he is the only one who has done anything in the league so be careful what you wish for.
