2024 Chargers Draft Superthread - Prospect Discussion - Draft Has Started

I'm picking an offensive center in the 2nd. That 2nd round pick is gold for this team, this year, in these circumstances.
If I could get an extra 3rd and two extra 4th's...? Then get another 3rd (via Mack/Bosa trade)...? It's barely even a question.

If those 3rd's are best available IDL, best available LB, and best available RB...?
If those 4th's are best available TE, best available OG, and Gabe Hall...?
There are no more questions...

I agree,.....unless we sign one. That will determine it for me. Bozeman signed with Carolina for 3 years , 18 mil.

I don't think signing one of the FA OCs will cost a lot. Even Conner Williams, though he won't be ready to start the season. I know his Sportrac projection is real high but they are always high on that.

He signed with Miami for 2 years, 14 mil and he hasn't been named an all pro like Linsley before we signed him

Chargers Unleashed podcast had a guest today named Trevor McCue, Michigan insider....interesting listen. Knows Michigan and Harbaugh very well. Provided good insight on Harbaugh, Minter, Herbert.

When Wolkenstein asked him who he thinks Harbaugh will take at 5...his answer....go order your Brock Bowers jersey now! He said he cannot see Jim Harbaugh passing on Brock Bowers. He said Harbaugh recruited Bowers hard but lost him to Georgia. He also said that TE is incredably important in Harbaugh style football, always the #2 receiver.

If we can get a quality center in FA (without breaking the bank)... I'm all for it.
Then again... getting a young guy and training him the Harbaugh Way sounds enticing too.

I get it, I can live with no Brock if we get a haul.

It sounds like he is a total Harbaugh guy though. The other side of not getting a haul is figuring that you can build depth over a couple of drafts and that you dont intend to be picking 5 often at all, so if you feel you can get a special, rare talent and playmaker sometimes you have to act when you are in a draft position you wont be again. Jim Harbaugh teams will not be finishing 5-12

Like Mitchell who is 6 ft 3 , runs 4.3 and has been the best defensive player at senior bowl week so far

No doubt Bowers could be a Harbaugh guy... I get it.
But if I can get Kool-Aid (I just put Quinyon in there to loosen you guys up) and Junior Colson... and Zac Zinter... and Kris Jenkins...
Well I just got 3 Harbaugh guys... and a guy Harbaugh stayed away from in the playoff game...

If we keep drafting offensive players with that 1st round pick... it might take a decade plus to build a championship defense.

A bit dramatic...who is to say we cant jumpstart this offense with an O heavy draft this year, get Herbert back on track, then invest heavily in the defense next 2 drafts? Hardly a decade, smh...

There isnt a top ten defender in this draft...if we do trade back, maybe...I do like your draft haul, fantasy that it is...

But I got no problem letting Minter coach up this D, figure out the weak links, and then go about with the repairs.

But...what we do with the current roster could change my focus...if we get rid of Bosa, Kendricks, Davis, Johnson...but bring back our TE room and Mdub? Things shift. Gotta see what roster moves we make to get a better idea of how the draft shakes out...

But if we need D, we HAVE to trade back...no defender in this draft worth #5

I've been saying it makes too much sense for a while now. Harbaugh covets a TE for is offense. In other words #5 is the perfect value for the Chargers to take a TE.

My unholy trinity from the beginning of all this has been Harbaugh, Hortiz, and Bowers. We have 2-3 just need the last piece.

He also favors a physical running game so I wonder if he surprises us all and goes for a right tackle upgrade.
