My impression after watching the highlight vids of both Nabers and Bowers is that BOTH catch whatever they get their hands on, but Nabers gets more separation.

I would hope sooooo..... one is a blazing fast WR with great hands, route running, etc, and the other is a blazing fast, big, tough, physical dominating TE with great hands and work ethic......

      BOTH are elite impact players.....

Chargers already have Palmer, QJ, davis and maybe KA.....at least 2 consistently good WR's.... We can add more speed to WR room after the first round....

Chargers have ZERO consistently good to great TE's..... Major need.... and Bowers is a generational prospect....

If both Ts are gone, that should mean we get MHJ? I love me some Bowers but not over MHJ. CHI and NE need QB.

I think WAS does too personally but maybe others are right and they stick with Howell. He had a rating of 79 for the season, QBR of 42 - that is not at all close to what is needed in the NFL to win. Blame the OL I guess, I know it was bad?

Washington drafted Chase Young in 2020, third overall, I believe, when they could have selected Justin Herbert or Tua.

If you think they don't regret passing on a QB that year... Well, you're wrong! lol

They won't do that again, unless they truly don't like the QBs available to them.

Guys like Kelce and Kittle get separation, so I was surprised that the highlights didn't display Bowers doing the same. Bowers has excellent speed (4.55/40) and TEs generally are not covered by the opponent's fastest and most nimble defenders, so again... I believe the separation thing merits closer scrutiny.

not sure what you are watching..... he beats people badly..... ive seen him at RB on a sweep where he out ran everyone for a 70+ yard TD...

He beats coverage accelerates and increases seperation from DB's..... he can take short passes the distance or catch deep ones......

              And he is extremely elusive.....

Take football out of it...this guy probably gets good grades at Washington. A really tough school. My son turned down a rugby partial there....same as Cal...because the student athletes are required to get good grades. lol My boy went to Arizona. lol Drank shots out of cleats. This guy Rome...this is a smart kid. This guy screams success to me. Nevermind the film. 24/27 contested catches this year. I need that.

And Caleb is bigger than Brees, Kyler, Russel Wilson and Bryce Young. That won't be a factor.
                  Not everyone agrees.

Brees went in the 2nd round and Wilson went in the 3rd round... largely because teams thought they weren't ideal size.
Maybe Washington isn't one of those teams (as they took Sam Howell in the 5th round. Then again, they took him in the 5th round.

We'll see what happens. Washington needs a RT badly. Pair RG Sam Cosmi with Joe Alt on the right side... and Washington's offense could be multiple once again. One of the gripes was that they didn't run enough.

Guys like Kelce, Kittle, and Bowers are often wide open because their OC's often scheme them open. I watched 6 or 7 game tapes on Bowers now. And you're right... if he goes 1 v 1 against good defenders, he doesn't get much separation. The point everyone is missing here, is that Kirby Smart's offense is multiple. He runs a million different plays to a million different players. As good as Bowers is (and I don't deny he is the best TE in the draft) he often gets lost in the motion and misdirection of the offense. He's not the only playmaker on Georgia's offense. In this way, he reminds me of Kelce. How many times have we asked ourselves, "How can a team lose track of Kelce and leave him wide open...?" And it's not just our team. Guys like Andy Reid and Kirby Smart are... well, smart.

75 yard scampers against Kent State might look good on highlight reels... but now Bowers has to prove he can beat NFL players. He should also pray that he goes to a team that has a dynamic play-caller. If we do indeed draft him... we'll need better play-calling to unleash Bowers' potential.

                      I agree with you.
It used to be a concern but then Brees went on to win a SB, break Mannings yards record, be one of the top yards passing leader every season. Wilson won a SB and came a yard from winning two.

Then Kyler went #1 and so did Young so I'd say that stigma is gone.

Who knows, maybe WA will grab a RT. Howell was pretty good but his last 5-6 he went downhill and led the league in turnovers.
But as they say, if you don't think you have your franchise QB and are in position to get one, that don't come around that often.

I think Fields is really improving and they haven't decided on his 5th year option and may draft Caleb.

That could open up a opportunity for a team like Denver to trade for Fields relatively cheap,( may not require a first) ..though they would need to pay him soon enough.

Or, they could keep him and draft MHJ and give him a weapon. He only has 1 right now & Kmet is finally making a little noise.

Yep, it's going to be interesting.

I'm not worried about Bowers. Teammates and coaches say the guy works real hard on details to get better and studies film.
We have seen Derwin shut Kelce down at times when he is on him man to man and not playing deep zone.

Kittle doesn't have big games every week either. Didn't against the Rams last week.

We just need better coaching. Particularly on the OL.

I think you keep Alt at LT. His dominant position. Do they have a stud LT or something? Move Lucas to RT. Alt has only played LT and he is a stud there. You keep him there. Fashanu might even be better. Man i am just not on board with using the #2 overall on a RT. I think they could even trade back some and get one of the OTs.

You made me go check to make sure Howell wasnt left handed. lol
