If Bijan slips (due to the NFL's trend of under-valuing RB's) to #21... then I think long and hard about drafting Bijan there.
If Brian Branch, Clark Phillips, and Bijan were all there @#21... I'd probably go with Brian Branch. He's just so versatile and smart.

Completely disagree...he most likely wont be there for us at #21 anyways. You probably think Spiller is perfectly fine...ugh!

I agree. I sat in the rain @the Murph with other Chargers fans the day LT and Brees were drafted.
I was ecstatic! The NFL is a different game now. Bijan < LT.

I'd like to be able to say, "Tell me who's already off the board at #21 (and #54 and #85) and I'll tell you the targets I'd hope for."

We know certain players WON'T be there. And there are plenty of players who *might* be there... or might not.

So it's total "eenie-meenie-miney moses moreno" wild-ass-guessing venture at this point, and WILL be until the Chargers are on the clock.

BTW... I have heard the whining about how "Gibbs may be off the board by #21, in addition to Bijan! We're screwed!"

And *MY* thought is, that if THAT's what happens, it just means that Joey Porter, Jr., or Dalton Kincaid, or Christian Gonzalez, or Miles Murphy will be there.

          Someone. Worthy. Will. Be. There.
This is the fun part...it's like buying a lottery ticket and hoping for the best. Most of the time we get coal in stockings instead of candy!

Gibbs will be there. I'd pass... there will be better talent there @#21. Gibbs will be part of a RBBC. He'll go late 1st or early 2nd round.
We have no idea in regards to Spiller. He got injured during TC and never got to see the field. Will he be as good as Bijan/Gibbs...? No.
Will he need to be...? No. As long as we have a good OL, we'll be fine running the ball. We'll throw the ball to set up the run... it's how we're built.

If he’s there we take him without hesitation.

IMV, I consider many different things... the value of today's NFL RB, the replacement cost of RB in rounds 2,3,4... the value of today's NFL DB's... their replacement cost in later rounds...

Currently we have Ekeler (38 TD's in the last 2 years), Kelley (much improved), and Spiller (total unknown due to injury) starting @RB next year.
Currently we have Ja'Sir Taylor starting @slot corner. He got shredded vs. Broncos @slot corner. He got shredded vs. Jags @CB when he stepped in for the injured Vato.

So, yeah... there should be hesitation. The objective is building a better TEAM. It's not about the star power of one particular player. If Bijan is still there @#21... then you'll know 20 other NFL teams had hesitation about the RB position in today's NFL.

Or... that team had a bigger need than RB, and could address that need with someone available at the same draft spot. And maybe you'd rather invest in an O-lineman who might serve the team for 10+ years, instead of a RB who's probably not there for longer than FOUR years.

Superstar running backs are usually on teams for 8 years...flawed RBs are gone because of Character concerns.

Didnt say that but unlike you, i dont think he has had a real chance to show what he can do. Never got to play with the #1 OL and i dont think he is a bust already lol. Only fools say rookies are a bust after 1 season.

And considering the RBs you listed that you like, you are judging them on their 40 times. Thats a bad way to judge players.
