RB Quay Holmes is a player they should keep their eye on. If he’s there with their last pick in the 7th, I would absolutely snag him up. I’m not saying wait until the last pick to take a RB. Just saying he’s worth to snag and develop.
2021 season
6’1 215 lbs
1,553 yds
5.9 YPC
17 TDs
32 receptions
331 yds
3 TDs
Master Teague is another RB I’m keeping my eyes on in the 6th or 7th. Big bruiser and fast

Popper’s best available for us. Some obviously might not make it to 79 but one can hope right?
The Chargers won't be back on the clock until the third round. Here are 25 players they could target on Day 2 of the draft.
After trading their second-round pick for Khalil Mack back in March, the Chargers will not pick again in this year’s draft until No. 79 in the third round.
Here are 25 players they could target with that pick.
1. DeMarvin Leal, DL, Texas A&M
2. Phidarian Mathis, DL, Alabama
Mathis will likely be off the board by the time the Chargers pick at 79. But he fits what head coach Brandon Staley is looking for on the interior — big, long and powerful against the run. It still feels like the Chargers are a piece away from filling out their defensive line depth, even after signing Sebastian Joseph-Day and Austin Johnson in free agency.
3. Kingsley Enagbare, edge rusher, South Carolina
4. Marcus Jones, CB, Houston
Jones is undersized but plays big, had outstanding ball production in college and would give the Chargers some depth in the slot. He played both inside and outside at Houston. And he was also one of the best returners in the nation.
5. Channing Tindall, LB, Georgia
The Chargers let Kyzir White walk in free agency and could use some linebacker depth behind Drue Tranquill and Kenneth Murray, who had ankle surgery earlier this month and might not be ready for training camp. Tindall is an elite athlete and could provide some juice on special teams coverage.
6. Dominique Robinson, edge rusher, Miami (Ohio)
7. Abraham Lucas, OT, Washington State
Even after drafting an offensive lineman in the first round in Boston College guard Zion Johnson, the Chargers could target an offensive tackle at 79 to compete with Trey Pipkins and Storm Norton for the starting right tackle spot. Lucas has an enticing frame at over 6-foot-6, 316 pounds with 34-inch arms. He is a smooth mover for his size and started 42 games at right tackle in college.
8. Tariq Woolen, CB, Texas-San Antonio
Woolen has one of the more eye-popping athletic profiles of any prospect in the draft. He is over 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, has 34-inch arms and ran a 4.26 40-yard dash at the combine. Woolen will need some refining, but his ceiling is sky-high.
9. DeAngelo Malone, edge rusher, Western Kentucky
10. Josh Paschal, edge rusher, Kentucky
Paschal is not the most explosive pass rusher. But he is a smart, sound, strong defender who could contribute right away for the Chargers as a rotational edge rusher and strengthen the run defense, a major weakness for this defense last season. He was a team captain for three straight seasons and Kentucky and is also a cancer survivor.
11. Nick Cross, DB, Maryland
Cross played all over the field for the Terps, including in single-high as a safety, in the box and in the slot. He has appealing athletic traits after running a 4.34 40 at the combine. The Chargers need some depth in the slot and at dime ‘backer in sub-packages.
12. Brian Asamoah, LB, Oklahoma
13. Coby Bryant, CB, Cincinnati
14. Cameron Thomas, edge rusher, San Diego State
15. Alec Pierce, WR, Cincinnati
Pierce ran a 4.41 at the combine and would give the Chargers some needed deep speed on the outside. As Dane Brugler wrote in his draft guide, Piece “is a pass-catching weapon who is at his best vertically with his springy athleticism and ball-tracking skills.”
16. Sam Williams, edge rusher, Ole Miss
17. Joshua Williams, CB, Fayetteville State
18. Damarri Mathis, CB, Pittsburgh
19. Alex Wright, edge rusher, UAB
20. Nicholas Petit-Frere, OT, Ohio State
21. Myjai Sanders, edge rusher, Cincinnati
22. Calvin Austin, WR, Memphis
Austin fits the speed mold after running a 4.32 40-yard dash at the combine. He is undersized, but I would be fascinated to see what offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi could do with his skill set. Austin lined up outside, in the slot and in the backfield for Memphis.
23. Zyon McCollum, CB, Sam Houston State
24. JoJo Domann, LB, Nebraska
25. Isaiah Spiller, RB, Texas A&M
The Chargers are still searching for their RB2 behind Austin Ekeler. The third round seems a little high to take a running back when there should be value on Day 3. But they could look at Spiller — or BYU’s Tyler Allgeier — at 79.

If they stay put and the draft falls the way all has predicted. If these were the next 3 picks, I would be happy.
3rd- Edge DeAngelo Malone
4th- DT Eyioma Uwazurike
5th- LB Aaron Hansford
These all add good depth at positions of need. 6th and 7th rounds are for DBs, RBs and Oline depth and a speedy WR. There are 6 picks in the final 2
rounds and 4 needs, ok 5 with a punter.
