Of the three 2021 free agent acquisitions for the OL. Please elaborate your takes. Can’t argue with being prudent plan at the time, but was it the right set of moves to get where we wanted? Have to say a resounding NO!

Aboushi cut short, very short, off injury. Feiler (Mauler type) not a good fit for offense (slow feet/repositioning angles) and sir Linsley, so good when he’s right but quickly aging, missing key winnable games from fluky injury/non-injury circumstances.

Moving-forward. Telesco and Staley need to be held accountable. Not sure outcome? But something or someone should be the fall guy (most likely Telesco, longer tenure of ineptitude). But honestly, not good on either, so maybe both?

Gotcha, you mean draft a backup for Linsley next draft.
Wasn't sure you meant the next draft or 2024.
I agree a center should be drafted in the later rounds.

The FA's were a home run. Linsley is an All-Pro... year after year. He's getting older so we will have to eventually replace him. Feiler balled out last year. He's having an off-year this year and is also getting older... will need to be replaced... probably this next draft. Aboushi was a stud until he got hurt. We didn't re-sign... because we had our eye on Zion.

Next year's OL should be good:
          LT Slater
          LG Hopefully drafted player
          OC Linsley (signed thru 2025)
          RG Zion
          RT Salyer (such a steal)

This really bothers me. Mentioned repeatedly, why not move Salyer to RT (post draft, training camp and preseason). Believed he could win out battle to start if given opportunity, but he wasn't, just sat on bench until injury forced Charger hand to start him @ LT. Can we all agree there is something terribly wrong or very least underlying problem with coaching that they don't start best players available? I don't know, very disturbing. Really like Staley too but his favoritism could divide the locker room. Hopefully releasing Tillery (long overdue) sends a message of change?

Where was Staley supposed to put Salyer? @RT? An unproven 6th rounder to replace Pipkins... when Pipkins had a good off-season? @LG? An unproven 6th rounder to replace Feiler... when Feiler had a good year last year?

Now Salyer is proven and ready to replace Pipkins (probably too expensive to re-sign) or Feiler (probably a cap casualty). Salyer's emergence gives us options for next year... and means we don't have to use a high draft pick @RT.

To answer question; nobody knew Slater would be lost for the season. Few if any, thought Feiler would hit the wall. Was hoping the off season work improved Pipkins skill set but didn’t know that either. What I did know was that Salyer had the highest possible OT exposure against the very best competition and succeeded @ Georgia. So yeah, expected him to have his name thrown into the hat to win the revolving RT chair position.

don't think the Tillery situation is a feather in Staley's cap, and ditto for Salyer.... they erred on that talent eval as well.

and re: FA, do think we did well w/Feiler and Linsley, and Aboushi was good, but went down....

FA & the draft are both 50/50 gambits.... if your GM is doing better than batting .500, he's above avg.

personally would like to see them give Salyer a shot @learning the center position, and also think TT will do his best to retain Trey.

if we're lucky, we would do well to restructure Feiler, but don't see a reason to move on from him, unless the dollars dictate a decision there.

Linsley needs a hedge in the draft, and if Skoronski or Fashanu fall to us in the draft, that's hard, if not foolish, to pass on.

hoping for Rashawn, Zion, Corey, Feiler, Jamaree, and w/Pips as the swing T.

and still really think we need an RB1.

Lot there to digest as usual. Think Salyer has proven himself as a starting OT. Linsley career is creeping closer to its natural course, Feiler is already there. I’ve seen both Skoronski & Fashanu top 10 picks, that’s wishful thinking. Best course is to cut fat, focus on better depth in trenches and draft skill players @ WR and secondary.

I like to wait until after season to overview class as a whole. Will have time to invest on that in January for sure. To me this season is a lost cause so don't get upset with results win or lose.

Of course, would love Kelee Ringo but most certainly top 10 prospect. Cam Smith, South Carolina would probably need to drop a bit to be considered in the proverbial Chargers "1st rd. cluster" unless they lose out, which is possible...... also if TT is fired end of season and Chargers want a more aggressive GM, we could trade down and stockpile more 2/3rd. day guys to address depth which isn't a bad idea? Chargers need another DE, Edge, CB, WR, TE, OT, OG/C and LB. That's eight positions of need alone. Then there will be some risers and some fallers to choose from. Gun to my head, if had choice of any prospect remotely close to where Chargers might be selecting it would be Penn State OT Olu Fashanu. Would be our plug and play RT, next to Zion. Slater comes back healthy and start Sayler next to him @ LG. Linsley starting Center, with a high-quality Center draft pick (Georgia C Sedrick Van Pran) to develop behind him. Set that OL for next 10 years but know all too well that is just wishful thinking.
