Is Lucas on the rise...?

He should be! I try to trade back to the back end of the 1st and take Lucas. He is a plug in and play RT. I think he’s going to be good for a long time.

He is plug and play. He just has a low ceiling compared to the other players available at 20. Plus I believe there’s an injury history (shoulder?) and he’s a RT only, which limits his suitors. I’d be shocked if he was drafted under 35.

At 17 I wouldn’t be mad at the pick, I’d just feel like we left chips on the table. Good GMs hate that. It would be reaching for a need, and we all know TT covets value in R1.

Ive read some of you folks going back and forth on that...safeties, that is...interesting idea...and another good reason to trade back some. (If only it were that easy...)

Daxton is a safety but played mostly in the slot, where he wreaked havoc using a lot of pre-snap movement. Sound familiar?

I think he’s the best nickel CB in the draft.

He’d play the star role in Staley’s D, basically the slot, Troy Hill’s role if we’re looking at the 2020 Rams. Never saw Daxton playing in too much space and I doubt that would change under Staley.

If you trade back (especially with a QB hungry team) you may get an early 3rd and a late 3rd.
I have all three tackles (Penning, Raimann, Lucas) ranked right around the late 1st round and early 2nd round. I think all are plug-and-play. I like Raimann and Lucas better for our offense... but Penning will be a very good OT for someone for years to come. The nit-picking on Penning's 1v1 drills @ the Senior Bowl is ridiculous... He played a very good game @ the SB.

If you had three 3rd round picks (#66, #79, #99)... damage could be done. Immediate depth help with eventual starters once the JH contract kicks in.

I think round 3 is a good place for CB (whether we trade back or not). My preference is Marcus Jones. He can play slot (should ASJ go down) and he's an excellent PR/KR.
Just did a mock on PFF with a trade back with Lions (#32). Also got their #66 and #97.

I'd be fine with any of those guys at 17 except I don't think we will be going DT there and definitely not QB.
