They could do that. But why pass on a potential all pro OT like Sewell for a very good OT in Slater?

I'm in favor of the best talent at either CB or LOT at 13. Like Horn vs Derishaw I'd take Horn.

Maybe because Sewell won't be around past 8, let alone at 13?

Chris has been scary good in recent years w/QB projections. The draft order won't prove C-Simms right or wrong. We will only be able to judge Simm's predictions in a year or three when we see how Mond ends up as a player.

I don't really care if he is right or wrong about who goes in front of who.

But what has he been right about other than he liked Herbert more than Tua?
I think more here like Herbert better too.

            What else?
He just starting to put some top fives out like last week.

If Mond goes before Fields and Lance.....or better,... If Mond turns out to be a great NFL QB better than those guys that he says he will, then he will get a lot more serious cred.

He did say Lance isn't a first rounder and I do agree. But Mond is a bold prediction.

Times where Simms rocked QB evaluation:
-Where no one thought Jackson was a top QB, Simms had him ranked high in that class.
              -Simms nailed Josh Allen
              -Picked Herbert above Tua
-Critics were chewing Mahomes up. Simms said #1 in class

              He's missed too, like everyone.

For the record, Simms 2021 rankings
              1. Wilson
              2. Lawrence
              3. Jones
              4. Mond
              5. Fields
              6. Lance

Hard to imagine tanking not becoming more of "a thing" in the NFL, for better or worse. Especially in years w/strong QB classes.

We’re talking about the Bengals choice.

They wouldn’t pass on Sewell but that wasn’t my point. My point is Slater is a guard, not a tackle.

From PFF discussing their picks for postseason awards. Grades pretty well for someone with a supposed “work ethic” issue. Faced some pretty damn good DL

”OUTLAND TROPHY: CHRISTIAN DARRISAW, VIRGINIA TECH

Darrisaw didn’t quite break Penei Sewell's record for the highest single-season PFF grade by a Power 5 tackle (95.8), but he certainly challenged it, and he did so despite going against far stiffer competition. Darrisaw led all Power 5 tackles in both pass- and run-blocking grade this year, culminating in a 95.6 PFF overall grade for the season.

The Virginia Tech left tackle logged 293 pass-block snaps across 10 starts in 2020, yet he allowed just six pressures, all of which were hurries. He also notched the highest positively graded run-block rate in the Power 5 for his efforts as a people-mover in the Hokies' zone-rushing attack.

Darrisaw declared for the 2021 NFL Draftafter his dominant 2020 season, and according to our very own Mike Renner, this year has him poised to be taken in the top 20.”

All these QB’s taken in the top 10 who will be there to protect their blind side? I’m sure we’ve all taken our mock draft reps and noticed one thing, there is a run on tackles in the 2nd rd. Doubt teams who don’t have the draft capital left after trading up for these QB’s, other than say Miami, able to trade back up for one either. There are some guys that aren’t ready but with potential, who will get drafted earlier because of that.

If Chargers could trade down less than 10 spots, gain a 2nd rd. pick and their LT, that would be a win. Otherwise I’m afraid they will live or die, with Darrisaw.
