[The Score] - Report: Yankees finalizing blockbuster trade for Padres' Soto

The New York Yankees are on the verge of landing one of baseball's top hitters, as they're finalizing a trade to land outfielders Juan Soto and Trent Grisham from the San Diego Padres, sources told Jon Morosi of MLB Network. The Padres would reportedly receive starter Michael King, No. 2 pitching prospect Drew Thorpe, pitchers Jhony Brito and Randy Vásquez, along with veteran catcher Kyle Higashioka. To Yankees To Padres OF Juan Soto SP Michael King OF Trent Grisham SP Drew Thorpe P Jhony Brito P Randy Vásquez C Kyle Higashioka Should the deal become official, Soto would arrive in the Bronx after putting together a sparkling resume in the National League with the Padres and Washington Nationals. The three-time All-Star and 2020 batting champion owns a .284/.421/.524 slash line with 160 home runs, 483 RBIs, and 640 walks in 779 career games. He hit .275/.410/.519 with 35 home runs, 32 doubles, and 12 stolen bases over 162 games last season.Soto, 25, is a potential rental for the Yankees. He's eligible to become a free agent at season's end and is projected to earn $33 million through arbitration. Soto's already turned down a reported 15-year, $440-million extension from the Nationals in 2022 before he was traded to the Padres. The Toronto Blue Jays were also reportedly interested in trading for Soto.More to come.
