It has been over a week since Tennessee State linebacker Christion Abercrombie suffered a head injury during a game against Vanderbilt that required emergency surgery, but we are finally starting to hear positive news about his recovery. On Tuesday, Abercrombie’s mother Staci took to Twitter to share encouraging news about the progress her son is making. Staci said Christion is “moving in a positive direction” and was able to squeeze her hand with significant force. Another member of Abercrombie’s family also tweeted on Monday night about an encouraging interaction with Christion. Tennessee State coach Rod Reed said Tuesday that Staci texted him the good news from the hospital where Christion has been recovering. “We’ve just got to keep praying and hopefully he will continue to progress on a daily basis,” Reed told Mike Organ of The Tennesseean. “All those things that he is doing shows that his brain is functioning in some capacity and those were the things that we were concerned with.
