Melvin Gordon will end holdout, report to Chargers on Thursday

Melvin Gordon’s holdout is ending. The Los Angeles Chargers running back will report to the team on Thursday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, ending a holdout that went three weeks into the regular season. There were hints of this earlier Wednesday, when it was indicated that Gordon was considering reporting far sooner than previously anticipated. He’s still forfeiting salary, and has likely watched as his backup, Austin Ekeler, has been exceedingly productive in his absence. The Chargers weren’t moving on new contract negotiations and weren’t about to start, so Gordon had reached a point where he was only hurting himself by sitting out. Gordon rushed for 10 touchdowns and 885 yards in 2018 despite playing in just 12 games. Expect his season debut to come in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos.
