    Should the Chargers pay or trade Melvin Gordon?

    The Los Angeles Chargers have a big decision to make as the season grows nearer. Their star running back, Melvin Gordon, is entering the last year of his deal that would pay him $5.6 million and contract negotiations for an extension have stalled. Gordon, reportedly, wants an extension in the neighborhood of what contemporaries like David Johnson, Le’Veon Bell, and Todd Gurley have received. And like Bell, Gordon is prepared to sit out the entire season if the team does not cave into his demands. This leaves Tom Telesco and the Chargers front office with essentially three options of which really only two are actual options. The Chargers can give in and pay Gordon somewhere around $55 million over 4 years. They can let him sit out the entire season. Or they can trade Gordon away. To me, the choice seems obvious. The Chargers need to find out who is willing to pay the highest price for Gordon and send him on his way.
