Melvin Gordon is listed as questionable and considered a true game-time decision for Thursday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but it sounds like it is more likely that he will have to sit out another week. Gordon was given a two to four week timeline for recovery after he suffered a sprained MCL on Nov. 25. Less than three weeks have passed since then, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that it will be “challenging” for him to take the field on Thursday night. All indications have been that Gordon is trying to convince the Chargers to let him play in the crucial AFC West showdown, but the team needs to think long term. While Thursday’s game could ultimately determine who wins the division and earns a first-round playoff bye, having Gordon healthy for the stretch run and into the postseason is L.A.’s top priority.
