Melvin Gordon is dealing with the type of knee sprain that has turned into a multi-week injury for players in the past, but the Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly optimistic that their star running back may not be out that long. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Gordon could return as soon as Week 14 when the Chargers take on the Cincinnati Bengals. If not, it sounds like he is expected to be back in time for an all-important AFC West showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs the following Thursday. One source told Schefter “it won’t be long now” when asked how much more time Gordon is expected to miss. The Chargers consider him truly week-to-week and have not nailed down an actual timeline for his return. The initial reports we heard about Gordon’s knee made it sound like he was going to miss at least a few games, but perhaps the injury is not as serious as initially feared.
