After the Los Angeles Chargers opened preseason play with a road loss to Arizona Cardinals, Chargers.com’s Ricky Henne reported via Twitter that Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said starting quarterback Philip Rivers would play in the next to preseason games. While nobody wants to risk losing their franchise quarterback to injury during a meaningless exhibition game, it is important for said franchise quarterback to get some live game snaps before the season kicks off. It will also be useful for the team to see their receivers and tight ends who are competing for roster spots play with a quarterback who is capable of throwing passes that are on time and on target. Unfortunately for the Chargers, they only have one such quarterback who is capable of doing that and it is Philip Rivers.
