    Chargers Training Camp Notes: Young Playmakers Highlight an Up and Down Day 1

    A flurry of notes from writers Matthew Stanley and Garrett Sisti on the first day of training camp. With Forrest Lamp still coming back from his ACL-injury, reserve guard Michael Schofield looks to be the starter at right guard if Lamp is not back in time for the regular season. If Gates is not resigned, the team will look to the younger tight ends to make up for the lost production from Hunter Henry’s injury earlier this year. Former UDFA Sean Culkin looks to be a front-runner in that regard. The added size is always a plus as he is already one of the better run-blockers at the position. With White transitioning to a true linebacker position, it will be interesting to see how much of his athleticism survives the increase in mass he must put on prior to the season. A 1v1 rep with an elite cornerback versus an elite wide receiver will always get the people going. Hayward is already in mid-season form.
