Mike Pouncey fills huge void at center for Chargers

After being released by the Miami Dolphins, center Mike Pouncey has signed on with the Los Angeles Chargers, filling a huge void on their offensive line. The Chargers announced the move on Monday afternoon, noting it’s a two-year deal. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the terms of the deal, which works out to $10 million guaranteed and up to $15 million over two years. Heading into this week, we highlighted the center position as the biggest position of need for the Chargers following the first wave of free agency. Last year, former undrafted free agent Spencer Pulley started all 16 games for Los Angeles. However, he gave up more pressures than any other center did last year (by far), per Pro Football Focus. So clearly, an upgrade was needed.General manager Tom Telesco has been very aggressive about targeting the offensive line the past two years. Signing Pouncey is just one more strong move that will help Philip Rivers continue to play well into his late-30s, and potentially beyond.
