    Chargers Re-Sign Adrian Phillips to a One-Year Contract, Tender Chris McCain

    The Chargers will bring back safety Adrian Phillips and have tendered pass rusher Chris McCain. The Los Angeles Chargers announced a pair of in-house moves. The team re-signed safety Adrian Phillips to a one-year deal, and have tendered defensive end, Chris McCain.
    The numbers in Phillips deal have not been released yet, but the fourth-year safety played a key role in Gus Bradley’s 4-3 scheme. He spent many of his snaps in the box and played a linebacker/safety hybrid role.
    Last season, the former undrafted free agent had 63 tackles and a pair of interceptions on the year. He will likely enter camp as the primary backup at safety but will get his chance to win the starting job.
    McCain, on the other hand, received a right of first refusal tender. This allows the Chargers to match any offer for the craft edge rusher. However, if Los Angeles decides not to match the offer, they will not receive any compensation.
